US to Tap Two-Star General to Lead Gaza Stabilization Force, Axios Reports

Trump said he plans to announce the Board of Peace in early 2026, according to the report.

The United States is preparing to appoint a two-star American general to lead a new international stabilization mission in Gaza, according to a report from Axios published Thursday.

The move, cited by two U.S. officials and two Israeli officials, would significantly expand Washington’s role in managing the ceasefire and coordinating reconstruction efforts in the territory.

According to the report, President Donald Trump also plans to announce a “Board of Peace” in early 2026 as part of the broader U.S. strategy for post-war Gaza.

The U.S. has already set up a civil-military coordination hub in Israel to track the truce and oversee humanitarian aid deliveries. White House officials told Axios that, despite the expanded leadership role, no American troops will be deployed inside Gaza.
