Former ISI Chief Faiz Hameed Sentenced to 14 Years by Pakistan Military Court

A Pakistani military tribunal has sentenced former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Lt. Gen. (ret.) Faiz Hameed to 14 years in prison on multiple charges, the Associated Press reported Thursday.

According to a statement released by the military, the Field General Court Martial (FGCM) found Hameed guilty on four counts, including involvement in political activities, violations of the Official Secrets Act, misuse of authority, and improperly using government resources. The charges also included causing “wrongful loss” to individuals.

The military said the verdict followed “lengthy and laborious” legal proceedings. Hameed, who once headed Pakistan’s powerful intelligence agency, was convicted on all counts.

Hameed’s conviction marks one of the most high-profile cases in Pakistan’s ongoing internal accountability proceedings targeting both civilian and military figures.
